Back in 1995 an k-education project office was set up in Russia on behalf of Austria’s Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture and KulturKontakt Austria. At present the coordinator’s main responsibility in dealing with questions related to cooperation in education lies with Mrs Ursula Mauric. The k-education project office is based at the North-West Agency of International Programmes.

From the very start the k-education project office in cooperation with Russian and foreign partners has been assisting with implementing quite a few projects on the following subjects: German as a foreign language, the history lesson in Russian schools, political education, problems related to teaching natural sciences, setting up a training firm network and a central training firm office in Russia’s North-West region, art in education, school development and school management.

The largest partners in carrying out the current projects are St.Petersburg Board of Education, the Education Board of Leningrad oblast´, the Education Department of Yaroslavl oblast’, the North-West Agency of International Programmes as well as the Finnish National Board of Education.

Along with its project activities the k-education project office offers pupils, students, school teachers and headmasters the coordinator’s advice and information about school partnership, grants as well as teaching materials on Austrian civilization.
