The k-education project office in Skopje was founded in the year 1999. The Austrian education coordinator in Skopje implements projects both in Macedonia on behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture and KulturKontakt Austria.
In close cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Macedonia and other international organization, projects in the field of education are implemented, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation or other international sponsors.
In the beginning the emphasis lay on projects supporting the process of democratization (Civic Education, History Teaching), projects for German as a Foreign Language and support for Roma students followed.
The project ECO NET introduced the idea of Training Firms in Macedonia. In Macedonia we are also implementing a project in the field of tourism. Tour.reg focuses on teacher training, equipment and curriculum development. Further fields of activity include projects like “Project based teaching”.
Sigrid Steininger was the first Austrian Educational Coordinator in Macedonia and from 1999 to 2002. Susanne Gerhard was her successor from 2002 to 2003. Since 2003 till 2008 Marion Haberfellner was in charge for the offices in Skopje and Pristina (till 2008 branch office of k-education Skopje).
For Macedonia Penco Kimov (since 2000) and Aleksandra Gjorgjevska (since 2008) are the responsible project assistants for Macedonia.
Norma Kirchler is in charge for the office in Skopje starting from september 2008.
